Things To Do When You’re Feeling Like Sh!t
After leaving work early on Sunday and having about 6 hours sleep almost straight after getting home, yesterday, the sickness was less frequent but the headache and all-over aches were still in full effect and still are.
I started playing Limbo (briefly) – brain-taxing activities in my current state are a) a bad idea and b) destined to fail. In fact, my headache worsened due to the fact I had to think. Limbo, however, seems like a game I could get into when I’m feeling 100% albeit it is a very dark game. And I don’t mean dark in the sense of the way the game is displayed in black, many shades of grey and the occasional usage of white. Check it out to see what I mean.
So, instead, I had a stint on Resident Evil: Revival Selection. Bit of older school gaming with Code: Veronica and Resident Evil 4. Seeing as I played Code: Veronica X on PS2 years ago and hadn’t played Resident Evil 4 at all I figured I’d stick to the chronology and play Code: Veronica first and experience the HD facelift and it may also help that I’ve played a variation of it before considering it’s in Japanese.
Another wrong move. I can’t remember anything of substance from Code: Veronica X so the amount of thought required is increased as the hallmarks of Resident Evil such as the ‘memos’, ‘notes’ and various other reading materials are all n Japanese.
A saving grace is that the title sequences and dialogue is in English with Japanese subtitles but I had to shut it off by the second typewriter as the controls were doing my head in – now that we know better about game control, to go back to a primitive form of movement is perplexing and makes me want to go back in time to when I first fired up Resident Evil on the Playstation and tell myself to enjoy those moments much much more, as the feeling of joy at playing such a fantastic game series back then looks as though they can’t be relived as much as I’d like to.
