Sony Turns Up The Heat
Sony has had a judge demand that George ‘Geohot’ Hotz hand over his hardware in the current PS3 Jailbreak fiasco.
They have also requested usernames and IP addresses of users watching and/or commenting on his Youtube video, which was also removed by order of the court.
On top of this, they are also looking to have Twitter release information as to the identities of the Fail0verflow team members.
Bad times.
If I use my Samsung Galaxy S as an example, I have installed custom ROMs etc which is no different in terms of installing CFW on PS3. Samsung isn’t suing these devs – in fact, they’re seeking support from the devs involved.
I can understand concerns over piracy, however, similar piracy can and does occur on Android…
Sony, a company I have loved and respected for years seems to be taking a mafioso approach in terms if bully tactics because they want it their way with no freedom whatsoever to users to run custom software and non-piracy wares.
We shall see how the story unfolds but with such controversy comes attention which will lead this to blow up one way or another…
