Carry On Rimming
So after yesterday’s battle and Googling the save data issue I spent the latter part of the day trying out Brute Force. I spent a little bit of time on it and got nowhere – feeling as exasperated I was I decided to just forget the whole thing. But me being me, ideas come to me as I’m lying in bed trying to sleep and they plague me so I was determined to sort it out today.
Last night, I ended up deleting EVERYTHING Skyrim related from my PS3 as I couldn’t even make a save file if I started a new game. By doing so, it resolved that issue.
This morning, I then took my fresh save file and used it in Brute Force to suss out a way of getting it to patch my old save. I followed this helpful video guide:
It was useful in terms of me getting to grips with Brute Force a little better but it didn’t resolve my issue – the .SFO patch wasn’t putting all the required data into the old save meaning it was either still coming up as owned by another user or when copying to the PS3 I’d get a corrupt data error.
In the end, I had to edit the actual .SFO manually by inserting my user profile and account ID as the automated method failed to do this properly. Not sure if it’s just a Skyrim save issue – I have other games that have suffered a similar fate with my console being confused as to my ownership of my own saves so I ill eventually do the same on those.
In the meantime, my level 45 character ‘Thor’ is back in business.
Now I just need to get the DLC back in action (Hearthfire, Dragonborn Dawnguard) and everything is back to normal. So, after an arduous adventure myself, I can finally get back to enjoying my virtual one again!
