Before it Gets Dark
My web-hosting is due to expire towards the end of the month. I’m unsure about renewing it as I fail (as I do with may things) to maintain it on the regular. Scattered bursts of writing – I have a number of drafts floating around that I will never finish because I will never be able to re-gain the train of thought each post had me riding on. The cost of web-hosting always goes up each time and I have to decide whether I switch to someone else (and endure the difficulties that ensue) or just leave it.
I preempted things by exporting all my posts over to WordPress.com but the themes and other plug ins I’m so accustomed to are not available over there so I’m not entirely sure the free route is the way to go. My blogs get a decent amount of hits but how many of those are actual readers and people who genuinely take an interest/follow my exploits I do not know.
I have just shy of a fortnight (two weeks – I only recently realised that this is a British saying and folks elsewhere have no idea what a ‘fortnight’ actually is) to sort it out.
On a separate writing-related note, I have started a new project which may not pan out any time soon. It’s a novella/novel that harks back to elements of my childhood refashioned into a work of pure fiction. If my depression is going to have me live in the past more than for the moment, I may as well utilise the inspiration that the nostalgia sends forth.
